NEW HAVEN, Conn. – It's week eight of the 2023 season, but Team 150 is making only its second road trip, traveling to Providence to meet Brown. Kickoff at Richard Gouse Field at Brown Stadium is slated for noon in a game that will be televised on NESN and streamed on ESPN+.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• The Ivy League standings remain quite tight with only three weekends remaining. Yale, Brown, Penn, Dartmouth and Cornell all sit at 2-2, one game behind Princeton and Harvard, who are both 3-1. After Saturday's game, the Bulldogs close out the season with games at Princeton and at home against Harvard.

• Yale (4-3 overall) has won four of its last five games and is coming off perhaps its most complete performance of the season, a 35-7 victory over Columbia last Saturday at Yale Bowl, Class of 1954 Field. The Bulldogs amassed 459 yards of total offense, while limiting the Lions to 194. The 28-point margin of victory was the largest of any Ivy game this season. Columbia's touchdown came with just 11 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

• Quarterback Nolan Grooms threw for 234 yards and rushed for 89 to lead the Yale offense. Grooms completed 26-of-32 passes and had one touchdown pass and one rushing touchdown, his first of the season. For his efforts, Grooms was named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

• In his last five games, Grooms has thrown 12 TD passes and just three interceptions. He leads the Ivy League and is 11th nationally in passing efficiency (156.2) and his 15 touchdown passes are second in the league and 20th nationally.

• Mason Tipton caught his league-leading seventh touchdown pass last week against the Lions, which is seventh nationally. Tipton, who had 114 receiving yards last week, his second 100+ game of the season, has caught at least one touchdown pass in every game except against Penn this season.

• Joshua Pitsenberger, who missed the Cornell and Morgan State games due to injury, is coming off a strong game. He rushed for a season-high 63 yards and two touchdowns against Columbia. Pitsenberger was the 2022 Ivy League Rookie of the Year.

• Yale's defense limited Columbia to 13 first downs last week, six of which came in the fourth quarter with the Bulldogs comfortably in front.

• Yale had three sacks against the Lions, including a career-best two from Dylan Yang. Clay Patterson also registered a sack and leads the league with 0.64 sacks per game. His 22 career sacks are the third most in school history.

• Joseph Vaughn leads the Bulldogs with 58 tackles, which is tied for fourth in the league. He made a season-high 15 tackles in the win at Dartmouth and also had double-digit tackles against Holy Cross (10), Cornell (12) and Penn (12).
