Men's Hockey Welcomes Colgate, Cornell This Weekend

Yale wraps up regular season play with a pair of ECAC games at Ingalls Rink this weekend. The Bulldogs are set to square off with Colgate on Friday, Feb. 24 before hosting No. 13 Cornell for senior night on Saturday, Feb. 25. Both contests will be streamed on ESPN+ and for international viewing on Stretch Internet.

The team will honor captain Michael Young, Brandon Tabakin, Connor Hopkins, Ryan Carmichael, Hayden Rowan, Cole Donhauser, and Quinton Ong prior to the start of Saturday's game. The program will also recognize the 10-year anniversary of the 2013 National Championship winning team. 

Bulldog Bytes
  • Yale (6-17-4, 5-13-2 ECAC) is coming off a 4-0 victory over Princeton last weekend. Ian Carpentier scored twice for the Bulldogs, while Niklas Allain and David Chen picked up the other two goals for the squad.
  • Nathan Reid backstopped the Bulldogs with 40 saves en route to his second shutout of the season.
  • Reid's solid performance in goal led to him being lauded as the ECAC Goaltender of the Week on Feb. 20.
  • Ian Carpentier leads the team in points with eight goals and seven assists.
  • First year David Chen is second on the team in points with 14. Chen has scored in back-to-back games.
  • William Dineen has been a force in the dot this season. He has won 52.8% of his draws.

Scouting Colgate
  • Colgate (14-14-4, 11-7-2 ECAC) is 1-2-2 in its last five games played.
  • Their only victory in that stretch was a 3-2 overtime win over St. Lawrence on Feb. 17. Ross Mitton was the extra time hero, scoring with 12 seconds left.
  • Three of those five games went into overtime with two of them resulting in shootout victories.
  • Alex Young leads the Raiders in points this season with 18 goals and 16 assists.
  • Carter Gylander has been the go-to in goal for Colgate with 31 starts. Gylander has a .916 save percentage, and a 2.36 goals against average.
 
Last Meeting with the Raiders
Colgate took the 8-1 victory in Hamilton on Nov. 19, 2022. David Chen scored the lone goal for Yale in the third period.
 
Scouting Cornell
  • Cornell (16-9-3, 13-6-1 ECAC) is 2-2-1 in their last five games.
  • They picked up a dominating 10-1 win over Union and then edged Colgate, 3-2.
  • Gabriel Seger is the team's leader in points with six goals and 21 assists.
  • The Big Red have four players who are tied for a team-high eight goals.
  • Ian Shane has seen the most time in goal this season for the Big Red with 26 games played and 24 starts. Shane has a .904 save percentage and 1.97 goals against average.

Last Meeting with the Big Red
Cornell captured the 5-2 victory at Lynah Rink on Nov 18. Briggs Gammill and Reilly Connors scored the goals for the Bulldogs.

Looking Ahead
Yale cap its regular slate of games this weekend and will await to find out who they will face in the first round of the ECAC Tournament.
