MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Yale women's tennis team began play in the prestigious Blue Gray National Tennis Classic, falling to No. 47 Texas Tech 4-0 in match that began late because of rain. Later in the day, the Bulldogs began their second match with Furman. The Paladins won the doubles point before the match was halted. It will resume on Saturday.
In the match against Texas Tech, only the singles matches were played.
Ann Wright Guerry split two sets at the No. 2 position and was trailing 1-0 in the third set when her match was stopped.
Against Furman, Yale's doubles team of
Rhea Shrivastava and
Vivian Cheng posted a 6-4 win at the No. 1 position.
In addition to finishing up its match with Furman, Yale will play its third match on Saturday as well.
