NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's tennis team makes its first trip of the spring this weekend, traveling to Madison, Wis., to face Western Michigan on Saturday at 2 p.m. and the University of Wisconsin on Sunday at noon.

The Bulldogs are coming off a big weekend that saw them post three victories – 7-0 over Binghamton and 6-1 against both Fairfield and Temple.

Theo Dean was strong at No. 1 singles, posting three victories without dropping a set.

Western Michigan, which plays Wisconsin on Friday, had an impressive 4-3 victory over Purdue last Friday. Prior to that, the Broncos lost to Notre Dame, 4-3, in South Bend. Western Michigan visited New Haven in March of 2020 and edged the Bulldogs 4-2. Two weeks later, the pandemic struck and shut down the remainder of the season.

Yale will be the second Ivy League opponent for Wisconsin, who beat Princeton 4-3 in Madison on Jan. 21. The Badgers are 3-1 on the spring with their only loss coming at Old Dominion, 4-3, last Sunday.
