SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Highlighted by hat tricks from
Charlotte Welch and
Jordan Ray, it rained goals in the Capital District. The No. 2 Yale women's hockey team took down Union, 10-1. The Bulldogs improved to 22-1-1 overall and 15-1-1 in the ECAC, while the Dutchwomen fell to 11-17-1 overall and 4-12-1 in the conference.
How It Happened
- Charlotte Welch opened the scoring just 2:25 in as Claire Dalton pounced on a missed clear by a Union defender and found Welch wide open for the top shelf finish.
- 37 seconds later, Anna Bargman dished a pass over to Jordan Ray, who slotted a five-hole shot into the back of the net.
- Dalton set up the play for Yale's third goal, powering into the offensive zone and finding Carina DiAntonio breaking on the left side for the direct shot in.
- At the 13:17 mark of the first period, Union snagged a goal to cut Yale's lead to two.
- A d-to-d pass from Emma Seitz to Vita Poniatovskaia led to Charlotte Welch's second goal of the night after the senior threw it on goal.
- With seven seconds remaining in the period, Seitz snagged a goal of her own with a shot on the doorstep threaded to her from DiAntonio.
- On the powerplay, Ray cycled the net and found Anna Bargman camped in front for her to bury.
- With 5:49 remaining in the second period, Olivia Muhn threw the puck on goal as Seitz rocketed in the rebound for Yale's seventh goal.
- Welch sealed her hat trick at the 8:27 mark of the third period. The forward intercepted a Union pass at center ice, broke into the zone and went bar down.
- Anja Trummer helped the Bulldogs extend their lead to nine. Trummer released a shot on goal right as Ray was breezing by the front of the net for the tip in.
- With just about 52 seconds remaining in the game, Ray completed the hat trick and capped the scoring.
- Pia Dukaric and Courtney DeNaut made a combined 14 saves in goal.

- The last time Yale scored 10 goals in a game was during the 2014-15 season against Sacred Heart where they took a 10-2 victory.
