NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Ken Krolicki, who played professionally in both Major League Soccer and the United Soccer League, has joined
Kylie Stannard's staff as an assistant coach. Krolicki played collegiately at Michigan State, including one season when Stannard was serving as the associate head coach prior to taking the helm at Yale.
"I am thrilled to welcome Ken to the Yale Men's Soccer Family," said Stannard, the 5K Corral Head Coach of the Bulldogs. "It gives me a lot of pride to add someone to my staff at Yale that I recruited and coached while at Michigan State. I only had the pleasure of coaching him one year before coming to Yale, but he was a key player on the 2014 team that earned the No. 3 national seed and went to the Elite Eight. He then captained the team his senior year to another Elite Eight appearance. He was the epitome of the type of player I love to have in a team and will be an incredible asset to our players and program here at Yale as he begins his coaching career. He is incredibly humble but intensely competitive with high standards, which will be a great example for our players."
At Michigan State, Krolicki appeared in 81 of 82 games. He was a two-time All-Big Ten selection and captained the 2017 team that reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. In addition, he earned Academic All-America honors in 2017 and was a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.
He graduated Michigan State in 2018 with a B.S.E. in applied engineering sciences with a concentration in supply chain management.
Krolicki then went on to play professional soccer for C.F. Montreal in the MLS. In two seasons with Montreal, he appeared in 38 games. He also was active in the Montreal community, including helping to launch a new soccer field in a local park and speaking to elementary school students on resilience and perseverance.
In 2020, Krolicki played for the USL's Portland Timbers, serving as the team captain.
He also spent one season playing professionally in Australia for the Bentleigh Greens in the NPL.
"I would like to thank Coach Stannard for the opportunity," Krolicki said. "I played for Coach Stannard and learned a lot as a player at Michigan State. I am excited to start working with him. Yale has been one of the top programs in the country and to be able to work with talented student-athletes and staff is a great opportunity for me to progress professionally. I am excited to learn from them and help take the program even further."
