Bulldogs Edged by Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Yale softball team was edged by Princeton, 3-2, to close out the season series at Strubing Field. The loss puts Yale at 5-12 overall and 0-3 in the Ivy League, while the Tigers improved to 7-12 overall and 3-0 in the Ivy.

How It Happened
  • T2 | After Maddie Latta hit a lead-off triple, Libby Peoples singled to left center to drive her in.
  • B2 | Princeton's Sophia Marsalo tied the game at one with a solo home run to start the inning. The Tigers grabbed two hits in the next two at bats. Julia Dumais then hit a sacrifice fly, allowing a base runner to score for the lead.
  • B4 | A two-out single scored Princeton's third run.
  • T5 | The Bulldogs made strides in the fifth. Lauren Perren worked the count to earn first before Willa Ferrer stepped to the plate and knocked a double to center field. With runners on second and third, Maddie Latta hit an infield groundout that scored Perren from the corner.
  • Princeton's stingy offerings from the circle allowed them to sweep the season series against Yale.

Notes
  • Maddie Latta and Libby Peoples each went one-for-three at the plate with one RBI.
  • Latta grabbed her fifth extra base hit of the season with a second inning triple.
  • Willa Ferrer went two-for-three on the day.
