Bulldogs Fall to Columbia

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Despite a late-game push, the Yale softball team fell to Columbia, 8-4, in their series finale at 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium. With the loss, the Bulldogs moved to 8-14 overall and 2-4 in the Ivy League, while the Lions improved to 7-13 overall and 3-3 in the conference.

Libby Peoples went 3-for-4 on the day with two RBI as part of the Bulldogs' seventh inning push. Lauren Perren went 2-for-2 with two runs, while Carolyn Skotz went 2-for-4 at the plate with one run and one stolen base.

How It Happened
  • T1 | Columbia struck first with a RBI single from Cami Neal.
  • B4 | In the fourth and with the bases loaded, Mady Smith was hit by a pitch to score Yale's first run and tie it.
  • T5 | The fifth saw the Lions regain the lead with a two RBI double to center field followed by a three-run home run.
  • T7 | Columbia extended its lead to seven runs in the top of the seventh with back-to-back scoring plays.
  • B7 | The Bulldogs looked to get back some runs in the bottom half of the inning. Carolyn Skotz hit a lead-off single to left field for Yale's first baserunner before Willa Ferrer advanced her with a single to right center field. Lauren Perren then loaded the bases after being hit by a pitch. With two outs, Libby Peoples stepped to the plate and roped a two RBI double to left center bringing home both Skotz and Ferrer.
