Williams Walks-Off Sacred Heart in the 14th

Ethan Lewis tossed three scoreless innings and earned win

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Jake Williams capped a four-hit day for the Bulldogs with the game-winning hit in the 14th inning in a 4-3 victory over Sacred Heart on Wednesday at Bush '48 Field.

Williams also gave Yale the lead in the 3rd with a two-run double to score Jimmy Chatfield and Alec Atkinson and give Yale a 3-1 lead.  Sacred Heart tied the game with two runs in the eighth and no runs were scored until Williams delivered in the 14th.

The Bulldogs (6-12) received several key pitching efforts.  Mick Kelley started, pitched into the seventh, allowed only one earned run and struck out four.

After the Pioneers (11-10) tied the game in the eighth, the bullpen tossed zeros on the scoreboard.  Daniel Cohen pitched three scoreless innings, Mark Capell did not allow a run in the 11th, and Ethan Lewis pitched the final three innings and earned the victory.

Beck Milner got Yale on the board in the second with a single to score Williams. Chatfield also had four hits in the game, while Milner and Atkinson both had two hits.

The Bulldogs are back in action this weekend with a three-game series at Brown.
