MORGANTOWN, WVa. – It was a strong start to the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships at West Virginia for Yale.
Jean Paul Ditto, off the men's 1-meter board, and
Paige Lai, in the women's 3-meter, both qualified for the NCAA Championship.
Ditto placed third with a score of 688.40.
The Bulldogs also got strong performances from
Nicholas Chau, who finished 11th with a score of 619.60, and
Aidan Thomas, who was 18th (552.20).
Lai, a first year, finished fourth off the 3-meter board with a score of 610.70.
Two other Bulldogs competed.
Hayden Henderson finished 24th with a score of 259.50 and
Maya Ennis placed 61st with a score of 203.40.
On Tuesday, Lai finished eighth off the 1-meter board and Ditto tied for sixth in the 3-meter event. Because they qualified for the NCAAs on Monday and finished in the top-12 on Tuesday, both Lai and Ditto will compete in both the 1 and 3 meter events at the NCAA Championship.
