HARTFORD, Conn. – Davis Hanson homered and drove in three as the Bulldogs defeated Hartford at Dunkin' Park on Wednesday.
Hanson went 2 for 3 at the plate and also singled home
Ben Metzner to get Yale on the board in the third at the home of the Double-A affiliate Hartford Yard Goats. The first-year Hanson has hit safely in eight straight games and is 15 for his last 33 (.455).
Metzner and
Tommy Martin both scored two runs for the Bulldogs, who improved to 10-16 overall.
After falling behind 2-1 after three, the Bulldogs put three on the board without a hit in the fourth to take a 4-2 lead. Team captain
Carson Swank singled home
Jeff Pierantoni in the fifth, and
Jake Williams singled home Hanson in the sixth to give Yale a 6-2 edge.
Josh Richardson (1-0) earned the victory after tossing 3.1 innings and allowing one earned run.
Mark Capell came on in the seventh with one out and did not allow run for 1 and 2/3 innings, while
Jimmy Chatfield locked down the ninth with a 1-2-3 inning.
Hanson added insurance runs with a two-run shot over the left centerfield wall to score
Hayden Sobecki.
The Bulldogs return to action this weekend with a three-game series at Dartmouth.
