NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's tennis team has traveled the country over the course of the 2022-23 season, visiting such locales as San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Madison, Wis. The final trip will take the Bulldogs to New York State where they will face Columbia on Saturday in Manhattan and Cornell on Sunday in Ithaca. Both matches begin at 1 p.m.
It will also be another weekend facing nationally ranked opponents. Columbia sits at No. 13 in the latest ITA computer rankings, while Cornell is No. 40.
Yale got a strong performance from its doubles teams last weekend against Penn and Princeton. Victories from
Vignesh Gogineni and
Renaud Lefevre and
Aidan Reilly and
Theo Dean earned the Bulldogs the doubles point against the Quakers. Gogineni and Lefevre's win came over Edoardo Graziani and Kevin Zhu
, who are ranked No. 37 in the nation.
Against Princeton, Gogineni and Lefevre were locked in a battle with Top Nidunjianzan and Will Peters. The Tigers' duo was leading 6-5 when the match was stopped.
Columbia (16-3, 3-1 Ivy) is coming off a hard-fought 4-3 loss to Harvard last Sunday. The Lions' Michael Zheng is ranked No. 28 in singles.
Cornell (15-5, 2-2 Ivy) hosts Brown on Saturday. The Big Red beat Dartmouth 6-1 on Sunday after falling 4-0 to Harvard on Saturday.
