PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Yale softball team punched its ticket to the 2023 Ivy League Tournament with a 2-0 shutout victory over Brown. The win puts Yale at 20-21 overall on the year and 11-10 in the Ivy, while the Bears fell to 13-26 overall and 9-12 in the conference.
Â
How It Happened
- T1 | Carolyn Skotz wasted zero time to get the Bulldogs on the base path. Batting in the top spot, Skotz knocked a second pitch double down the left field line to get things rolling. Two batters later, Willa Ferrer hit a ball to the shortstop that allowed Skotz to squeeze by and score.
- T5 | Three and a half scoreless innings later, the Bulldogs found the scoresheet again. Carmen Muscolina singled up the middle for Yale's first baserunner of the inning. Two outs later, and who else but Carolyn Skotz at the plate. The captain singled to right center, scoring Muscolina to put Yale up by two.
- Nicole Conway pitched a gem in the circle for the Bulldogs. The senior minimized Brown's offense, allowing just three hits scattered across the first four innings of play and allowed no hits in the remaining three innings.

Notes
- This is the first time Yale has hit the 20-win mark since the 2009 season. It is also the first time since 2009 that the Bulldogs have grabbed 11 conference wins in a single season.Â
- Nicole Conway pitched her way to her seventh win of the season, a career-high marker for the senior. This was Conway's sixth complete game of the season and second shutout.
- Carolyn Skotz was involved in both of Yale's runs. She went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
- Alex Perren went 2-for-3 on the day. Perren has recorded at least one hit in the last six-straight games.
