Earned All-Ivy recognition last fall

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Adam Raine hopes to become the latest Bulldog to make his mark in the NFL. Raine, a defensive lineman who earned honorable mention All-Ivy recognition as a senior last fall, has been invited to the Washington Commanders rookie mini camp.

Raine is coming off a very strong senior season. In 10 games, he finished with 27 tackles, including 4.5 for a loss. In addition, he had 2.5 sacks, three pass break ups and blocked a kick in helping the Bulldogs earn an outright Ivy League championship. As a junior in 2021, Raine was seventh on the team with 41 tackles and added 2.5 sacks. In his career, he appeared in 32 games and had 71 tackles and five sacks.

"All of Yale Football is excited for Adam as he begins his professional career," said Tony Reno, The Joel E. Smilow '54 Head Coach of the Bulldogs. "Adam is a physical presence in the interior of the defensive line who brings a relentless pursuit of excellence in all he does on and off the field. The Commanders are getting a great player and person in Adam."

Raine, a native of Basingstoke, England, who spent one year at the Berkshire School in Massachusetts before attending Yale, joins a strong contingent of Bulldogs in the NFL. Foye Oluokun '18 led the league in tackles last year as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Rodney Thomas II '22 had four interceptions and made 52 tackles in his rookie season with the Indianapolis Colts, and Dieter Eiselen '19 saw time on the Chicago Bears' offensive line. In addition, Mike McDaniel '05, in his first season as head coach in Miami, guided the Dolphins to the playoffs.
