Bulldogs Earn NABC Team Academic Excellence Award for Ninth Straight Season

Mahoney, Jarvis, Feinberg named to Honors Court

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's basketball team continues to enjoy great success on the court and in the classroom. The 2022-23 Bulldogs won 21 games, captured the Ivy League regular season title for the third time in the last four seasons and earned a bid to the postseason National Invitation Tournament where they nearly knocked off Vanderbilt.

Yale also has now been honored for its success in the classroom. For the ninth straight season, the Bulldogs were recognized with a Team Academic Excellence Award from the National Association of Basketball Coaches. During that stretch, Yale has a 183-93 (.663) overall record, a 93-33 (.738) Ivy League mark, has won five Ivy titles and earned four NCAA Tournament berths and one NIT bid.

In addition to the team award, three Bulldogs – August Mahoney, EJ Jarvis and Michael Feinberg – were named to the NABC Honors Court. In the last eight years, Yale has now had 30 Honors Court selections.

The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize men's basketball programs that completed the 2022-23 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2022-23 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.

The NABC's academic awards include honorees from all levels of college basketball.

"Education is a core value of the NABC, and we are privileged to recognize these outstanding student-athletes and the coaches and support staff who invest in their development," said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. "The hundreds of teams and thousands of players that qualified for NABC academic awards this season are a testament to our sport's ongoing prioritization of success in the classroom."
