Bulldogs Blank UConn

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The storms leading up to game time did not rain on the parade of the Yale women's soccer team as they went on to blank UConn, 1-0, at Reese Stadium. Win the win, the Bulldogs sit at 4-1-1 overall, while the Huskies moved to 3-2-1.

"This is a huge win for our program against a very good, organized team, who will win a lot of games this fall," said Sarah Martinez, Loring Family Head Coach. "Tonight wasn't our best performance, but we showed so much grit and resiliency through some storm UConn threw our way. Credit to Marisa [Shorrock] for some big-time saves and our entire team for clutch defensive efforts. This team is so fun to coach with the depth and buy-in we have 1-30 on our roster. We will now shift our focus to recover before our final non-conference match against St. John's."

Scoring Summary
  • 32' | Ellie Rappole broke the deadlock in scoring after taking a hard shot from in front of goal that found the back of the net.
