NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's soccer team picked up its second consecutive non-conference victory, topping Colgate 2-0 on Tuesday evening at Reese Stadium.
TJ Presthus scored on a penalty kick and
Ryan Cote added a second goal to propel the Bulldogs to their third win of the season.
Yale improves to 3-3 so far, while the Raiders fall to 3-4.
How It Happened
- 13' | GOAL! Defender Jamie Orson is taken down in the box resulting in a penalty kick. Presthus buries the attempt into the top-right corner of the net to give the Bulldogs the early lead.
- 44' | GOAL! Right before halftime, Joseph Farouz ran down the far side of the pitch, fighting off a pair of defenders. His cross is partially deflected, but is corralled by Cote in front of the net who taps it in with his right foot to double the hosts' lead.
- HT | The Bulldogs only allowed a single shot on goal in the first half, controlling possession for the majority of the period.
- 76' | Max Rogers rockets a shot from just inside the 18, but the Colgate keeper makes a diving save. On the rebound, Farouz attempts a bicycle kick, but cannot square up the ball.
- FT | Yale picks up the 2-0 win in a game where they never allowed Colgate to gain a single scoring threat.
