WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Yale field hockey team battled back from a 2-0 deficit and came within inches of tying the game late in the fourth quarter on a sunny Sunday afternoon against Monmouth at So Sweet A Cat Field. But a potential game-tying goal bounced off the crossbar with 17 seconds to play, and the Hawks held on for a 2-1 win.
Monmouth improves to 7-4 overall (1-2 in the CAA), while Yale falls to 6-4 overall (1-2 in the Ivy League).
