Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Colleen Murphy

Bulldogs Blanked by Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Yale women's soccer team was defeated by Brown, 2-0, at Stevenson-Pincince Field. The Bulldogs record moved to 7-4-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the Ivy, while the Bears moved to 5-3-3 overall, and 2-1 in the conference.

"Disappointing first half from us tonight," said Sarah Martinez, Loring Family Head Coach. "I'm happy with the way the group responded at halftime, but unfortunately, we dug ourselves a hole early in the game. I have told our group many times, when we can find a way to put together two compete halves, we will be very good, but our league is too good to only perform for 45 minutes and expect a result."

Game Summary
  • 21' | Brown converted on a fast-break and slotted a shot bottom right to open the scoring.
  • 28' | A Bears forward chipped a shot up and over the goalkeeper on the left side for the two-goal lead.
  • Yale came out of halftime with momentum, elevating their shot total to six compared to their first half total (1), but were not able to convert.

"We have a quick turnaround to a very good Princeton team this weekend. My staff and I will make sure we get our team ready to go from the first whistle," Martinez said in closing. The Bulldogs turn their attention to Sunday, Oct, 13 when they host Princeton at Reese Stadium.
