Team 151 caps their home slate of games with a meeting with the Princeton Tigers on Saturday, Nov. 16. Kickoff at Yale Bowl, Class of 1954 field is slated for 12 p.m., and the game can be viewed on ESPN+ with Justin Gallanty and Jack Siedlecki on the call.
What You Need to Know:
- Yale enters the day with a 5-3 overall record and 2-3 record in conference play. Yale is coming off a 56-34 win over Brown on Nov. 9. at home, which saw Grant Jordan and David Pantelis have extraordinary offensive days. The last time Yale scored 50 points in a game was on Nov. 5, 2022, against Brown where they scored 69 points.
- Quarterback Grant Jordan is coming off Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors for his performance against the Bears on Nov. 9.
- Jordan had another tremendous performance. He completed 29-of-40 (72.5%) pass attempts for 372 yards and six touchdowns, while also recording one rushing touchdown of his own on the ground.
- The last time a Yale quarterback threw for six touchdowns was on Nov. 19, 2019 when Kurt Rawlings did so in a 51-14 win at Princeton.
- He tied the Yale single-game touchdown passing record held by Kurt Rawlings against Princeton in 2019.
- He also became just the fifth Ivy League quarterback in history to record six passing touchdowns in a single game. Yale quarterbacks account for two of the five (Rawlings, Jordan).
- Pantelis also had a career day, recording 12 catches for 195 yards and three touchdowns, all three coming in the first quarter.
- Abu Kamara has continued his solid defensive play. He leads the FCS in solo tackles per game with 6.9. In the Ivy League, he is first in total tackles (68), first in solo tackles (55), and second in the Ivy in tackles per game (8.5). He has 12 more solo tackles then the next player.
- Josh Pitsenberger is fourth in the Ivy in rushing yards (517) and third in rushing yards per game (73.9).
- Yale ranked in a tie for 8th in FCS in fourth down conversion (.714) and 13th in third down conversion (.466).
- David Pantelis has been a bright spot for the Bulldogs' offense this season. On the receiving end, the Pittsburgh native is third in the Ivy in receiving yards (725), third in touchdowns (8), and fourth in receiving yards per game (90.6).
- Quarterback Grant Jordan has the best passing percentage in the Ivy League (67.0), is third in the Ivy in touchdowns (18) behind Cornell's Jameson Wang (22) and Harvard's Jaden Craig (20).
- Jordan's 80% completion rate (24-30) against Penn on Oct. 25 is still an Ivy League season best, and his five passing touchdowns against Dartmouth on Oct. 12 are tied for an Ivy season best.
- Tony Reno, Joel E. Smilow '54 Head Coach of the Bulldogs, who is in his 12th season at the helm, earned his 72nd win at Yale against Brown on Nov. 9, surpassing Jack Siedlecki (71) for second in program history for wins by a coach.
The Series
- This is the 146th meeting between the teams, and the Bulldogs hold a 80-55-10 advantage all time.
- The Bulldogs have captured six of the last ten meetings.
- Yale has taken the last two meetings against Princeton – one at Princeton Stadium in 2023, and the other at Yale Bowl in 2022.
- Last season, the Bulldogs took an exciting 36-28 double overtime victory over the Tigers in Princeton. Josh Pitsenberger scored on a 3-yard touchdown run on the first possession of the second overtime, and Wande Owens knocked away a Princeton fourth down pass to secure the win.
Scouting Princeton
- Princeton enters the day with a 2-6 overall record and a 1-4 record in the Ivy League. They have lost three-straight coming into Saturday's match up at Yale Bowl with losses to Harvard (13-45), Cornell (35-49), and most recently to Dartmouth (17-26).
- Against Dartmouth, Tigers quarterback Blaine Hipa finished 11 for 18 for 137 yards and the two touchdowns. There were four Tigers who had double figures in tackles with 13 for Marco Scarano while Nasir Hill and Chase Christopher secured 12 each. Payton Tally nabbed 11 as well.
- This season, Hipa has a 54.4% completion rate, and thrown for 1,231 yards and nine touchdowns. His longest toss was a 60-yarder against Brown on Oct. 18.
