Football Returns Home to Face Brown

After a two game road stint at Penn and Columbia, Team 151 returns home to The Bowl for the first of its final two games at home this season. They will face the Brown Bears on Nov. 9 before hosting Princeton the following weekend. Saturday's Ivy tilt will be streamed live on ESPN+ with kick-off set for noontime from Yale Bowl, Class of 1954 Field. 

What You Need to Know: 

  • Yale enters the day with a 4-3 overall record and 1-3 record in conference play.
  • Under the lights last Friday night, the Bulldogs fell to Columbia on the road, 13-10. Quarterback Grant Jordan was effective for the Bulldogs, completing 18-of-27 for 151 yards and a score. Nathan Denney hauled in his first touchdown of the season. Trailing 10-6 with 4:47 remaining in the fourth quarter, Columbia quarterback Cole Freeman delivered a 44-yard touchdown pass to Bryson Canty for the game-winner.
  • Despite the loss, the Bulldogs defense held steady throughout the game, holding the Lions to their lowest point total of the season. The pass defense was particularly effective, only allowing 156 yards, nearly 75 yards less than its season average (225.6).
  • Abu Kamara has been a defensive threat for the Bulldogs all season long. He has tallied three-straight games with a forced fumble. He leads the conference this season in forced fumbles (3) and forced fumbles per game (0.43).
  • Kamara leads the FCS in solo tackles per game with 6.9. In the Ivy League, he is second in total tackles (59), first in solo tackles (48), and third in the Ivy in tackles per game (8.4).
  • Yale ranked in a tie for 14th in FCS in fourth down conversion (.667) and are 19th in red zone offense (.885). They are also 27th in third down conversion (.436).
  • David Pantelis has been a bright spot for the Bulldogs' offense this season. On the receiving end, the Pittsburgh native is third in the Ivy in receiving yards (530), fourth in touchdowns (5), and fourth in receiving yards per game (75.7).
  • Quarterback Grant Jordan is third in the Ivy in touchdowns (12) behind Harvard's Jaden Craig (18) and Cornell's Jameson Wang (17). He has the third-longest toss of the season (71 yards) behind Brown's Jake Wilcox (87) and Cornell's Jameson Wang (82).
  • Jordan's 80% completion rate (24-30) against Penn is an Ivy League season best, and his five passing touchdowns against Dartmouth on Oct. 12 are tied for an Ivy season best.
  • Tony Reno, Joel E. Smilow '54 Head Coach of the Bulldogs, who is in his 12th season at the helm, earned his 71st win at Yale against Penn on Oct. 25, tying Jack Siedlecki (71) for second in program history for wins by a coach.

The Series

  • Yale has won six-straight games and nine of the last 10 match ups with the Bears – this includes a 36-17 victory in Providence during the 2023 season. 
    Yale has scored at least 30 points in each of the last six games against Brown. Three of those games, the Bulldogs had 50+ points. 

Scouting Brown

  • The Bears come into Saturday's match up with a 3-4 overall record and a 2-2 record in Ivy League play. Brown fell to Penn at home on Nov. 2 by a score of 38-28. It was the most points the Bears have scored in a game since Oct. 5 when they put up 35 against Bryant.
  • Against Penn, quarterback Jake Willcox threw for 260 yards on 24-for-34 passing with two touchdowns. He added 26 yards rushing and caught one pass for 33 yards in the loss. 

Looking Ahead
Yale will face Princeton on Saturday, Nov. 16 for the final home game of the season. The Bulldogs will play their final game on Saturday, Nov. 23 in the 140th playing of The Game in Cambridge, Mass.
