CHICAGO, Ill. – The Yale men's basketball team fell to UIC, 91-79, at Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago. The Flames improved to 2-0 on the season, while the Bulldogs moved to 1-1 overall.

Statistical Leaders
For the second-straight game, four Bulldogs landed in double-figure point totals.
- John Poulakidas had a game-high 21 points. The Naperville, Ill. Native hit a triad of three-pointers, and went 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
- Bez Mbeng picked up 16 points after shooting 40-percent from the field.
- Yassine Gharram recorded 13 points on 5-6 shooting from the field and 2-3 shooting from beyond the arc.
- Nick Townsend had 12 points, which included going 4-for-6 from the free throw line.Â
Turning Point
The first half was a back-and-forth tug of war – that landed in favor of the Bulldogs at the end of the frame and had them leading by seven points. UIC came out of the break and rocked on offense with a 15-0 run. From that point forward, the Flames never trailed again in the game.Â

UIC used their depth to score 43 points from the bench, which was more than double the Bulldogs (17). Despite the scoreline, the Bulldogs shot 45.8-percent from the three-point line, which was better than the Flames, who shot 37.5-percent. UIC narrowly edged Yale in field goal percentage with 45.6-percent efficiency to the Bulldogs' 44.6-percent. Â

- Gharram's 13 points, 10 rebounds, were a career-high in both statistical categories.
- It was also his first career double-double for the Bulldogs.
- Casey Simmons' three blocks were a career high for the junior, who has previously had seven different games with a single block. Â
