Football’s Kamara Named AP Honorable Mention All-American

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The postseason accolades continue to roll in for Abu Kamara of Yale Football as the defensive back was named an Honorable Mention All-American from the Associated Press (AP).
 
The sophomore had a breakout year, which earned him All-New England honors from the New England Football Writers Association and First Team All-Ivy accolades. Additionally, he was named a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, given to the national defensive player of the year in Division I FCS college football. This season, Kamara was consistenly ranked one of the top defensive players in the country - and was named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week on two separate occasions. He had 84 total tackles, with 67 solos, two total for loss, one sack, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, two interceptions, five pass break-ups, as well as 10 quarterback hurries.
 
Kamara is the first Bulldog to earn AP All-America accolades since Clay Patterson's third team selection in 2021.
