PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – For the second straight day, the Yale men's tennis team played a tight, exciting match the ECAC Indoor Championships. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, they came up just short in both. No. 1 seed Cornell edged No. 3 seed Yale 4-3 on the final day of the tournament to claim third place. The Bulldogs lost 4-3 to No. 2 Princeton on Saturday.
Against Cornell, Yale won the doubles point behind victories from
Walker Oberg and
Theo Dean and
Eric Li and
Jim Ji.
Three of the singles matches went three sets, and the Big Red won two. The tightest was at No. 5 where Cornell's Felipe Pinzon won the deciding set 7-5 to clinch the victory.
Ji posted a three-set win at No. 4, while Li, at No. 3, was a straight sets winner for Yale.
The Bulldogs are off until Mar. 1 when they host Wisconsin at 6 p.m.
