CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – It was a strong opening night for the Yale men's swimming and diving team at the Ivy League Championship. A pair of relays kicked off the competition, and the Bulldogs had top three finishes in both to amass 110 points, which has them in second place.
Yale started with a bang, setting a school record in the 200 medley relay to place second.
Lucius Brown, Alexander Hazlett, Marcus Hodgson and
Deniel Nankov finished in 1:25.11. Harvard edged the Bulldogs with a time of 1:24.86, which was a new pool record.
Yale was third in the 800 freestyle relay as Nankov,
Charlie Egeland,
Jose Cano and
Ben Meulemans had a time of 6:24.14. Harvard won in 6:16.13, while Princeton was second in 6:21.28.
The championship continues on Thursday with the prelims at 11 a.m. and the finals at 6 p.m.
