Yale Visits Cornell Saturday Afternoon

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's basketball team continues Ivy League play with a game at Cornell Saturday (2:00 p.m., ESPN+, International Stream, Live Stats, Tickets). The Bulldogs enter the weekend sixth in the Ivy League standings, two games behind Brown for the fourth and final spot in the Ivy League Tournament. Seven games remain in the regular season.
 
Last Game
Yale (5-15, 2-5 Ivy League) won 74-68 in overtime at Penn last Saturday. The Bulldogs got a buzzer-beating three from senior guard Klara Astrom (Menlo Park, Calif.) to tie the game 63-63 at the end of regulation, then outscored the Quakers 11-5 in OT. Senior guard Jenna Clark (Pittsburgh, Pa.) led Yale with 25 points – one shy of her career high – and nine assists.

Clark leads the Ivy League in assists – putting her in position to become the first player to lead the Ivy League in assists for three straight years since Harvard's Brogan Berry did so from the 2009-10 season through the 2011-12 season.

Bulldogs' Best vs. the Big Red
Yale swept the series vs. Cornell last year, winning 68-56 at Lee Amphitheater and 63-42 at Newman Arena. Senior guard Klara Astrom (Menlo Park, Calif.) averaged a team-best 13.5 points in the two games, followed by junior guard Christen McCann (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) (12.5 points). The Bulldogs have won six in a row against Cornell.

Scouting Cornell
Cornell (7-12, 1-6 Ivy League) snapped a six-game losing streak with a 61-47 win vs. Dartmouth last Friday, but followed that up with a 63-52 loss to Harvard on Saturday. The Big Red is seventh in the Ivy League in points per game (55.9). Cornell ranks second in the league in three-point field goal percentage defense, allowing opponents to connect at just a .308 clip.
