CONWAY, S.C. – The Yale softball team dropped a pair of games at the Chanticleer Showdown. The Bulldogs opened the morning with a hard-fought 4-3 loss to Iona in extra innings before falling again to Michigan State, 5-2. Yale's record moved to 1-7 overall, while Iona moved to 2-4 and Michigan State to 10-10.

Game 1: Iona 4, Yale 3 (9 innings)
- Iona struck in the first inning with a double to center field that scored a run.
- Yale responded in the top of the third. After Sam Goodcase hit a two-out double to right field, Elena Ohe scored her from second for the equalizer.
- The Gaels came back at the Bulldogs quick, scoring a run in the bottom half of the inning for the lead once again.
- The sixth inning saw Maddie Latta take first with a single to center field. In the very next at bat, Isabella Fortini knocked Latta home with a double to left center. After advancing to third on a wild pitch, Fortini stole home to give Yale the lead, 3-2.
- Iona found its way back on the scoresheet in the bottom half of the inning to tie it.
- After a scoreless seventh and eighth inning, Iona broke the deadlock, winning the game on the tag of a fly out.

Game 2: Michigan State 5, Yale 2
- The Spartans came out hot in the first inning, taking the lead on a three-run home run.
- Michigan extended its lead to five after collecting a run in both the second and third innings.
- Yale got on the board in the bottom of the sixth. The Bulldogs found themselves with bases loaded. Elena Ohe knocked a double to center field to score two runners.
- Michigan State was able to hold off the Bulldogs in the seventh to secure the win.Â
