Wolf, Jones Finalists for CollegeInsider Awards

SPOKANE, Wash. – CollegeInsider.com has released the finalists for its postseason awards, and Yale is well represented. Danny Wolf is a finalist for the Lou Henson Award, presented to the top mid-major player in the nation, while James Jones, The Joel E. Smilow, Class of 1954 Head Coach of the Bulldogs, is a finalist for both the Ben Jobe Award as the top minority coach in the nation and the Skip Prosser Award, which honors those who not only achieve success on the basketball court but who display moral integrity on and off it as well.
 
Wolf leads the Ivy League in rebounding (9.8 rpg.), is second in blocks (43) and 10th in scoring (14.3 ppg.).  He has already earned unanimous first team All-Ivy and NABC District 13 first team honors. In addition, he was named the Most Outstanding Player at the Ivy League Tournament last weekend after he had nine points, 13 rebounds, two assists and four blocks in the championship game win over Brown and 19 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two blocks in the semifinal victory over Cornell.
 
Jones was the 2019 recipient of the Ben Jobe Award and has been a finalist on a number of occasions for the Skip Prosser Award. Jones is the winningest men's basketball coach in school history and the second winningest coach in Ivy League history. He has guided the Bulldogs to six Ivy League championships – 2002, 2015, 2016, 2019, 2020, 2023 - four NCAA Tournament berths – 2016, 2019, 2022, 2024 - and eight postseason appearances. In addition, he is a four-time Ivy League Coach of the Year (2015, 2016, 2020, 2023) and also has been named the NABC District 13 Coach of the Year three times.
 
The Bulldogs (22-9, 11-3 Ivy) are preparing for Friday's first-round NCAA Tournament game vs. Auburn.
