CAMDEN, N.J. – It was a strong start to the spring season for Yale women's crew as the Bulldogs swept Ohio State, Rutgers and Indiana on the Cooper River.
The day started with victories over the Buckeyes and Scarlet Knights in the morning. In the varsity eight, the Bulldogs posted a time of 6:45.2, more than four seconds faster than Ohio State (6:49.3). Rutgers was third in 6:50.3.
The second varsity eight was closer as Yale edged Ohio State 6:49 to 6:50. Rutgers was third in 7:02.1
The varsity four posted a more than four-second victory, finishing in 7:29.3. Ohio State (7:33.7) was second followed by Rutgers (7:52.6).
Yale also easily won the second varsity four and third varsity eight races.
In the afternoon session, the Bulldogs posted dominant victories in all crews. The varsity eight (6:57.2) won by more than 15 seconds, the second varsity eight (7:16.4) won by a similar margin and the varsity four (8:12.6) won by nearly 30 seconds.
"We were able to win all our races today," said
Will Porter, The Friends of YWC Head Coach of the Bulldogs. "It wasn't pretty, but for our first time out this year, it was a start. We have a lot of work of work to do across the board. But it was a good start for our young team."
