Bulldogs Fall at Brown in Finale; Clark Gets 1,000 Points and Single-Season Assist Mark

PROVIDENCE, R.I.  –  The Yale women's basketball team got a historical performance from senior guard Jenna Clark Saturday against Brown at the Pizzitola Center, but ultimately it was not enough to overcome the Bears in the 2023-24 season finale.

Clark scored her 1,000th career point on a three-pointer with 1:25 left in the third quarter; by that point she had already broken her own school record for single-season assists. But the Bears broke open a five-point game with a 9-0 run midway through the fourth and went on to win 76-57.

With the win Brown (16-11, 7-7 Ivy League) forged a tie for fourth in the Ivy League standings with Penn, but the Quakers earned the fourth and final spot in the upcoming Ivy League Women's Basketball Tournament by having a tiebreaker advantage on the Bears (a win against third-place Harvard). Yale (8-19, 5-9 Ivy League) finished two games behind the Bears and Quakers.

STATISTICAL LEADERS
  • Clark led Yale with 19 points and eight assists. She had entered the day needing 14 points for 1,000 and three assists to tie her own school record of 160, set in 2021-22.
  • Sophomore guard Kiley Capstraw added 14 points and seven rebounds.
  • Senior forward Brenna McDonald had 15 rebounds, a career high, and nine points. Junior guard/forward Mackenzie Egger added nine rebounds.

KEY STAT
  • Brown outscored Yale 25-13 in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win.
