Bulldogs Break Program Record with Victory Over Penn

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Yale softball team broke a program record for single-season conference wins with a 6-3 victory over Penn. The Bulldogs improved to 17-20 overall and 12-3 in the Ivy League, while the Quakers fell to 7-22 overall and 2-10 in the conference.

The new record of 12 Ivy wins belongs to the 2024 Bulldogs, who broke a 15-year-old record set during the 2009 season and tied during the 2023 season.

How it Happened
  • T1 | With runners on first and second, Willa Ferrer doubled down the right field line to score the game's first run.
  • B2 | Penn's response came in the bottom of the second with a solo home run to tie it.
  • T4 | With two outs and one on, Isabella Fortini knocked a double that scored the runner from first, giving Yale the lead.
  • T6 | The Bulldogs blew the game open in the sixth as they had the bases loaded with two outs. Libby Peoples walked to score a run before Sophie Woodridge bombed a double that cleared the bases and gave the Bulldogs a five-run lead.
  • B7 | Penn threatened late in the game, scoring two runs on three hits to come within three, but the Bulldogs were able to shut them down and hold on for the win.
