HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – With four games in the last 11 days, it's been a busy stretch for the Yale men's lacrosse team. The Bulldogs were certainly up to the challenge. They made it a perfect 4-for-4 with a hard-fought 16-12 win over Hofstra at Shuart Stadium.
Yale (10-2) extended its overall winning streak to six.
On a night where they had limited possessions, the Bulldogs had to be efficient on offense, and they certainly were. Yale's 16 goals came on 29 shots. The Bulldogs had 23 shots on goal and 16 found the back of the net.
Goalkeepers
Jared Paquette and
Hugh Conrad each played a half, and both were very strong. Paquette made 14 saves, while Conrad stopped seven shots.
STATISTICAL LEADERS
Matt Brandau continued his torrid streak, finishing with nine points (5 goals, 4 assists). During the grueling four-game stretch, he has scored 15 goals and added 19 assists. First year
Cole Cashion also had a big night, tallying a career-high three goals. He has five goals in the last two games.
David Anderson and
Max Krevsky both added two goals, while
Peter Moynihan, Jack Stuzin, Thomas Bragg and
Carson Kuhl each scored once.
TURNING POINT
The Bulldogs had only an 11-10 lead entering the fourth quarter. Krevsky scored early in the period, but the Pride answered with the next two to tie the score. Yale's defense, though, held Hofstra scoreless for the final 8:25. Cashion gave the Bulldogs the lead for good with 7:45 remaining, and Bragg gave them some breathing room with 4:57 left. Cashion and Brandau scored in the final 2:13 to seal the victory.
COMBACK
Similar to Saturday's win at Dartmouth, Yale found itself trailing after the first quarter. The Bulldogs scored the first two goals of the night, but Hofstra responded with five straight and had a 6-3 lead after 15 minutes. Yale outscored the Pride 4-1 in the second quarter.
KEY STAT
The Bulldogs were 26-of-29 on clears.
ROAD SUCCESS
This was the final regular season road game for the Bulldogs, who finished with a 5-2 road record. They also won their only neutral site game.

Yale again doesn't have much time before its next game. The Bulldogs host Albany on Friday at 7 p.m. at Reese Stadium.
