NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A pair of Big Ten opponents, including NCAA Tournament runner up Purdue, and a trip to El Paso, Texas, for the Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational are part of a challenging 27-game 2024-25 schedule for the defending Ivy League Tournament champion Yale men's basketball team.

The Bulldogs will host 11 games in the friendly confines of the John J. Lee Amphitheater, including the season opener against local rival Quinnipiac on Nov. 4. Other non-conference home games include a visit from perennial NCAA Tournament participant Vermont on Dec. 7 and Howard on New Year's Day 2025.

The 14-game Ivy League regular season begins at home against Brown on January 11 and wraps up at Brown on Mar. 8. The Bulldogs hope to return to Providence the following weekend for 2025 Ivy Madness, which will be hosted by Brown in the Pizzitola Center. Yale has qualified for each of the previous six Ivy League Tournaments.

Season tickets for the 11 home games are currently on sale.

Here are more notes on the 2024-25 schedule:

• Four opponents – Purdue, Akron, Vermont and Howard – joined the Bulldogs in the NCAA Tournament field a year ago. The Boilermakers advanced to the national championship game, falling to UConn 75-60 in Phoenix.

• Eight of the 13 non-conference opponents won at least 19 games a year ago.

• Yale and Quinnipiac are playing for the second straight season. The Bulldogs outscored the Bobcats 44-31 in the second half of a 73-66 victory at M&T Bank Arena last December.

• The game at Purdue on Nov. 11 is a rematch of a 2022 NCAA Tournament first round matchup between the teams that was played in Milwaukee. The Boilermakers defeated the Bulldogs 78-56. The only other meeting between the teams was a 76-66 Boilermaker victory on Dec. 27, 1962.

• Purdue is the first of two games against Big Ten opponents. The Bulldogs play at Minnesota on Nov. 16 in the first meeting between the teams since 1980.

• Yale plays two games in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Event at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The first is Nov. 23 vs. Fairfield followed by a matchup against Delaware on Nov. 24.

• Yale's yearly matchup with Vermont, which comes on Sat., Dec. 7 this season, has developed into one of the highlights of the Bulldogs' schedule. The two teams played in every season between 2007-08 and 2019-20, missed 2020-21 due to the pandemic and then resumed in 2021-22. There have been several down-to-the-wire finishes in the series history, and the two are easily among the top two programs in New England.

• The game against Akron comes in the opening round of the Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational on Dec. 20 in El Paso, Texas. UTEP, which played in the championship game of the Conference USA Tournament a year ago, hosts Jackson State in the other first round game. The consolation and championship game of the Invitational are set for Dec. 21.

• Three of Yale's first four Ivy League games are in Lee Amphitheater, capped by a 2 p.m. matinee against Harvard on Jan. 25.

• The Bulldogs close out the regular season with three straight road games.

Over the last nine seasons, Yale has posted a 95-31 (.754) Ivy League record, won five Ivy regular season championships, three Ivy League Tournament titles and earned four NCAA Tournament berths.
