NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- After capturing the Yale Invitational and defeating two NCAA Tournament-qualifying teams last weekend, the Bulldogs will hit the road this weekend to face two more teams who competed in the Big Dance in 2023.  

Notes for this weekend:
  • This weekend marks a rematch of the 2023 NCAA Tournament First Round between Yale and Penn State.  PSU won the match 3-1.  
  • Yale will face a 2023 NCAA Tournament team for the third and fourth straight times this weekend.  Last weekend, The Bulldogs defeated Fairfield and Colgate in consecutive days to win the Yale Invitational.  
  • The Bulldogs have won 27 straight matches at John J. Lee Amphitheater, the third-longest home win streak in the nation.  
  • Betsy Goodenow earned Yale Invitational MVP after averaging 3.53 kills and 2.73 digs per set in a 3-0 weekend for the Bulldogs. 
  • Laurece Abraham and Gigi Barr also earned spots on the Yale Invitational All-Tournament team,   Abraham ranks 25th in the nation in hitting percentage (.418).  
  • Carly Diehl, the reigning Ivy League Player of the Year, needs 21 assists to reach 3,000 for her Yale career.  She currently ranks fifth all-time in program history.
  • Cara Shultz, a Glennmore, Pa., native, has 117 service aces in her Yale career and ranks sixth all-time in program history. 
Scouting James Madison
The Dukes (5-3) won the Erie Insurance Invitational in Virginia last weekend defeating UC-San Diego, High Point and Western Michigan.  JMU was selected as the preseason favorite to win the Sun Belt East Division after earning a spot in the NCAA Tournament for back-to-back seasons.

Scouting Penn State
No. 3 Penn State (8-1) had its eight-match win streak snapped at No. 1 Pittsburgh on Wednesday.  PSU has already defeated No. 15 Tennessee, No. 4 Louisville and No. 9 Kentucky to start the season.
