Bulldogs Defeat James Madison to Make it Five Straight

Victory marks third straight over a 2023 NCAA Tournamet team

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Bulldogs swept defending Sun Belt champ James Madison for its fifth consecutive victory in a neutral site match on Saturday afternoon.  The scores of the match were 25-13, 25-18 and 26-24.  

Match summary:
  • The victory marked Yale's third straight win against a team that qualified for the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
  • Betsy Goodenow, who earned the Yale Invitational MVP last weekend, paced the Bulldogs with 11 kills and eight digs.
  • Laurece Abraham hit .526 and had 10 kills, which marked the fifth straight match she has hit double-figures. 
  • Carly Diehl continues to stuff the stat sheet -- she had 31 assists, eight digs, five kills and hit .571.
  • Yale hit .333 in the first set and completed the set on an 18-8 run.
  • The Bulldogs jumped out to an 18-6 lead in set two, and completed the match hitting .343 in final set. 
  • Halle Sherlock had two service aces -- the second time this season she has had more than one in a match.
