Rappole's Late Goal Lifts Bulldogs to Win in Ivy Opener

HANOVER, N.H. – Senior Ellie Rappole scored in the 85th minute to give the Yale women's soccer team a 2-1 win over Dartmouth in the team's Ivy League opener on Saturday evening at Burnham Field. Rappole's strike lifted the Bulldogs to its first victory over the Big Green since 2019.

Yale has now won three consecutive games and sport an overall record of 6-3-0. Dartmouth falls to 6-3-1 with the loss.

"I am so proud of our team for this result," said Sarah Martinez, Loring Family Head Coach. "The first half quality, the second half grit, and finding a way to get three points on the road is a huge accomplishment in this league."

"1-0 each game has been our approach all season and this team has stayed so focused on that throughout the year. But I know this one was circled on the schedule wanting to set a tone in the Ivy League," Martinez said.

How it Happened
  • 38' | YALE GOAL! Following a Yale corner kick which was knocked away by the Dartmouth keeper, Ashley Kirschner kicked the ball out to Tanner Cahalan who delivered a strike from outside the box into the back of the Big Green net. 1-0 Yale
  • 57' | Dartmouth tied the game on a goal by Daisy Granholm. 1-1 tie
  • 85' | YALE GOAL! Racing down the far side of the field and several yards outside of the 18, Rappole crossed a ball into the box. The attempt sailed over the head of Connors and into the back of the net, giving the Bulldogs the game-winner. 2-1 Yale
