CHARLESTON, S.C. – Cara Shultz posted a team-highs in digs and service aces to pace the Bulldogs to a 3-0 victory over South Carolina-Upstate on Saturday evening.  The scores of the match were 25-19, 25-15 and 25-20.  Betsy Goodenow had 12 kills in the match and earned a spot on the all-tournament team.

Match summary:

• Yale hit .323 as a team, including .432 in a second set victory.
• Laurece Abraham had a career-high 14 kills and hit .684 with only one error on 19 swings.
• Goodenow hit double-digits in kills for a third straight match to start the season.  She had 42 kills and 33 digs in the three matches.
• Shultz now has 114 service aces in her career and ranks eighth all-time in program history.  She is two away from tying sixth all-time. 
• Yale rattled off five straight points in the first set to take a 15-11 lead, and never looked back
• In the second set, the Bulldogs used a 9-3 run midway through the set to take a 19-11 lead.
• Gigi Barr broke an 18-18 tie in the third set and started a 5-0 run to seal the 3-0 victory.
• Carly Diehl had another all-around match -- 35 assists, 13 digs, six kills and hit. 357.  She added two service aces and now has 101 in her career.
