First Ivy Road Game of Season Saturday Afternoon at Brown

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's basketball team plays at Brown Saturday (2:00 p.m., ESPN+, International Stream, Live Stats, Tickets). This is the Bulldogs' first Ivy League road game of 2024-25.
 
Last Game
Yale (1-13, 0-1 Ivy League) outscored Harvard 38-36 in the first, second and fourth quarters combined last Saturday – but the Crimson's 25-5 scoring edge in the third quarter proved decisive as Harvard took a 61-43 win at Lee Amphitheater. Senior guard/forward Mackenzie Egger (Mount Pleasant, Mich.) led Yale with 14 points. She added eight rebounds.
 
Bulldogs Second in the Nation in Three-Point Defense
Yale ranks second nationally in three-point percentage defense. The Bulldogs have limited their opponents to a .220 shooting performance beyond the arc, trailing only Bradley (.213). This past Saturday's .148 (4-for-27) shooting performance by Harvard marked the eighth time in 14 games that Yale has held its opponent to below .200 shooting from three.
 
Egger Among Ivy Leaders
Senior guard/forward Mackenzie Egger (Mount Pleasant, Mich.) is among the Ivy League top 12 in five categories:
  • 1st in rebounding (9.6 rpg)
  • 2nd in steals (2.3 spg)
  • 4th in scoring (15.8 ppg)
  • 5th in blocked shots (0.9)
  • 11th in field goal percentage (.462)
 
Odume Earns the Start
First-year guard Ke'iara Odume (Syracuse, N.Y.) earned her first career start this past Saturday, contributing 10 points and eight rebounds. Odume has recently developed into one of the Bulldogs' leading scorers and rebounders. Over the last three games she is averaging 9.3 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game – second on the team in both categories. In the 11 games prior to that she had averaged 3.8 points per game and 2.2 rebounds per game.
 
Road Warrior
Senior guard Avery Lee (Los Altos Hills, Calif.) does some of her best work in road games. For the season she is averaging 7.1 points in road games, third-best on the team. She is shooting a team-best .381 from three-point territory in road games.
 
Bulldogs' First Years Are Busy
Among all the schools in the Ivy League, Yale has gotten the most games played (63) and the most minutes (1,110) out of its first-year class. The Bulldogs' first years rank third in the Ivy League in total starts (22). Here is the complete list, ranked by minutes:

Brown is Her Favorite Color
Junior guard Kiley Capstraw (West Orange, N.J.) averaged 15.0 points per game in Yale's two games against Brown last season. That ranked second on the team, trailing only Jenna Clark '24 (18.0 ppg). 
 
Scouting Brown
Brown (6-8, 0-1 Ivy League) is coming off a 64-48 loss at home to Dartmouth in the Ivy League opener last Saturday. The Bears average 8.0 made three-pointers per game, tied for best in the Ivy League, but are shooting just .277 from three-point range and .384 overall. They are second in the league in free throw shooting (.754). Center Gianna Aiello is second in the league in rebounding (8.4 per game), trailing only Yale senior guard/forward Mackenzie Egger (Mount Pleasant, Mich.) (9.6 per game).
