Bulldogs Drop ECAC Hockey Opener to Quinnipiac

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's ice hockey team dropped its ECAC Hockey opener against Quinnipiac on Friday evening at Ingalls Rink. The Bobcats topped the Bulldogs 3-1 to remain unbeaten this season. Jordan Ray scored the lone goal for the Elis.

With the victory, Quinnipiac improved to 9-0-0 overall and opened conference play with a win. Yale dropped to 2-1-0 and to 0-1-0 in the ECAC.

Friday night's contest was held in honor of Mandi Schwartz '10, a former Yale women's ice hockey player who passed away after a battle with acute myeloid leukemia on April 3, 2011, at the age of 23. Since then, Yale has launched the Mandi Schwartz Marrow Donor Registration Drive, which is part of the nationwide "Get in the Game. Save a Life." campaign for the National Marrow Donor Program. The athletic department has held drives in each of the past 14 springs, ever since Mandi was first diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in December 2008. To date, over 100 donors from Yale's drive have been matched with recipients across the country.
