CONTOOCOOK, N.H. – The Yale women's cross country team took fifth place (153 points) at the NCAA Cross Country Northeast Regional Championships Friday morning at Hopkinton State Fairgrounds. This marks Yale's best finish at Regionals since finishing fifth in 2021 (with 160 points). The Bulldogs had a 20 point margin over the sixth-place team, UConn (173). They were the top team among Ivy League schools, besting seventh-place Harvard by 26 points.
Boston College (60 points) won. Providence finished second with 71 points to claim the region's other automatic berth in the NCAA Championships.
Senior
Claire Archer was the Bulldogs' top finisher, taking 11th place with a time of 20:17.0. Army West Point's Charlotte Richman finished first (19:52.8).
The Bulldogs:
- Senior Claire Archer (11th, 20:17.0) improved on last year's 12th place finish by one spot. As a top 25 finisher, she will earn All-Region honors again. The USTFCCCA will formally announce those awards next week. Archer has been Yale's top finisher in her last nine races.
- First-year Phoebe Benun (26th, 20:34.8) was Yale's second finisher. She was fourth among all first-years at the race. Benun was in 37th at the 4K mark but moved up dramatically with a split of 6:52.0 for the final 2K.
- Junior Hebe Chadwick (27th, 20:35.1) was right behind Benun. This was her third time finishing as Yale's No. 3 runner this year.
- Senior Charlotte Whitehurst (44th, 20:54.6) was fourth for the Bulldogs. Right behind her was senior captain Linde Fonville (45th, 20:54.7).
- Sophomore Sylvie Sanok Dufallo (70th, 21:11.8) was Yale's sixth finisher.
- Junior Daniella Henderson (96th, 21:29.8) was Yale's seventh finisher.

- The NCAA Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships provide for a maximum of 32 five-to-seven-person teams and 38 individuals per gender.
- Eighteen teams automatically qualify for the championships races by finishing as one of the top two teams at any of the nine regional races.
- The remaining 14 at-large teams are selected by the NCAA Division I Cross Country Subcommittee.
- Thirty-six individuals automatically qualify for the championships races by being one of the top four regional finishers not on an advancing team.
- Two additional individuals are selected at-large by the committee.
