ORLANDO, Fla. – The Yale women's tennis standout doubles pair of
Orly Ogilvy and
Leena Friedman kicked off action at the NCAA Doubles Championship on Wednesday in stellar fashion, taking down a Washington duo (Erika Matsuda/Carina Syrtveit) in three sets in the Round of 32.
"Really proud of how the team competed," said Rachel Sapir-Kahan, Swensen-McMahon Head Coach of Women's Tennis. "It took us a little while to find our rhythm but they stuck to the game plan and fought until the end."
"We're really proud of the way we played our games and represented Yale on court," added Friedman and Ogilvy.
After Washington took the first set 6-3, the duo bounced back with a strong second set win, 6-3, and then closed out the match with a 10-4 victory in the third set.
With the win, the pair advanced to the Round of 16 and will face the Mississippi State team of Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz and Gianna Oboniye on Thursday, Nov. 20.
