ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands – Four Bulldogs scored in double figures as the Yale men's basketball team defeated Green Bay, 73–67, in the opening game of the Paradise Jam Tournament on Friday afternoon.
Yale improved to 4-1, and Green Bay dropped to 1-5.
Turning Point
After Green Bay cut the deficit to 58–50 with 8:48 remaining, the Bulldogs answered with a 7–0 run, capped by a
Jordan Brathwaite three-pointer that pushed the lead to 65–50. The Phoenix responded with nine straight points, but Brathwaite delivered another clutch triple to halt their surge. Green Bay continued to battle, trimming Yale's lead to 69–67 with 29 seconds left, but
Isaac Celiscar sealed the game with a decisive layup that put it out of reach.
Notable Performances
- Nick Townsend paced the Bulldogs with 13 points, five rebounds, four assists, and a steal.
- Casey Simmons added 11 points, along with five rebounds and three assists.
- Riley Fox contributed 11 points on an efficient 5-of-7 shooting.
- Samson Aletan recorded 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting, adding five rebounds and two blocks.
- Brathwaite chipped in nine points on 3-of-5 shooting and knocked down all three of his attempts from beyond the arc.
- The Bulldogs shot 51.0% overall (26-of-51) in the game.
