NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Six Bulldogs reached double figures as the Yale men's basketball team cruised to its fifth straight victory, setting a program record for points scored by defeating SUNY Maritime 117–53 on Tuesday evening at John J. Lee Amphitheater. Yale improved to 8–1 on the season.
Turning Point
After the Privateers made a three-pointer to narrow the gap to 23-17 with 9:24 left in the first half, the Bulldogs responded with a dominant offensive stretch.
Jordan Brathwaite and
Courtney Wallace each hit a three-pointer, helping Yale finish the half on a 39-9 run to lead 62-26, and they maintained control for the remainder of the game.
Notable Performances
- Riley Fox scored 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including 3-of-7 from three-point range, and contributed four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
- Wallace had an outstanding performance with 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting, going 2-of-4 from beyond the arc, along with three rebounds, three assists, four steals, and a block.
- Isaac Celiscar added 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting, with three rebounds and five assists.
- Daniel Ogunyemi recorded 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting and led the team with nine rebounds, also adding two assists and a steal.
- Brathwaite scored 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting, all from three-point range, while contributing two rebounds, two assists, and a block.
- Casey Simmons added 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting.
- Jack Sullivan chipped in nine points on 4-of-8 shooting, adding three rebounds, an assist, and a team-high three blocks.
- The Bulldogs shot 63.4% from the field (45-of-71) and 50% from three-point range (15-of-30).
- Yale dominated in points in the paint with 60 and bench points with 66.
- The Bulldogs tallied 36 assists on 45 baskets.
