NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's basketball team broke off a 15-0 run in the third quarter to flip the script on the University of New Haven Monday night at the Hazell Center, turning a 33-32 Chargers lead into a 47-33 Bulldogs lead. Yale never looked back after that, cruising to a 63-49 win in the game between crosstown rivals. Sophomore guard
Marisa Chapman had a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) and sophomore guard
Ciniya Moore scored a career-high 23 points.
The game was tied 28-28 at halftime, but Yale's 22-7 advantage in the third quarter put the Bulldogs firmly in control. New Haven closed to within eight at 52-44 with 6:41 left, but senior forward
Kiley Capstraw found Chapman for a layup that jump-started a 7-2 Yale run to put the game out of reach.
Yale improves to 4-7 (0-0 Ivy League) while New Haven falls to 2-7 (0-0 NEC).

QUOTING DALILA ESHE, YALE'S JOEL E. SMILOW '54 HEAD COACH OF WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
- On having four players score nine or more points: "Once we settled in, we found our rhythm versus their zone. We put some people in positions they don't normally play, and that opened up the floor for us to have some equal-opportunity offense."
- On Moore's career-high 23 points: "We thought she would have a good game, knowing they play zone. In addition to her outside shooting, she got some really good shots going downhill."
- On the team winning three in a row and four of five: "So much of it was about us gelling at the right time. We had two pretty hard games in the middle of November, and not having Kiley for two games hurt as well. So November felt a little out of sorts. This [winning streak] is just about finding our rhythm and our chemistry."
