Kastl Named Ivy League Rookie of the Week Again

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- First-year forward Dorka Kastl (Budapest, Hungary), who totaled 17 rebounds and eight blocks in Yale's two games last week, has been named Ivy League Co-Rookie of the Week. The league announced the award Monday afternoon. Kastl shared the honor with Harvard's Olivia Jones.

This is the second Ivy League Rookie of the Week honor for Kastl this season. She led Yale in rebounds with nine, blocks with six and steals with four in Wednesday's 61-48 win vs. Bryant. Her six blocks were the most in a game by a Yale player since Camilla Emsbo '23 blocked six against Army West Point Dec. 28, 2021. That was her fourth straight game with four or more blocks, and her second straight game with four steals. Kastl followed that up with a team-best eight rebounds and two blocks in Saturday's 53-52 win at Rider.

Kastl is a graduate of Holderness School. She was Class C All-NEPSAC senior and junior years. She helped Hungary win the FIBA U-20 EuroBasket Division B championship this past summer.

Yale visits the University of New Haven Monday at 5:30 p.m.
