NEW HAVEN, Conn. – On Saturday afternoon at Lee Amphitheater the Yale women's basketball team held Cornell to just 57 points, the second-lowest point total of the season for a Bulldog opponent. But the Big Red defense was even better, limiting Yale to 40 points and delivering a Cornell win.
Yale (2-19, 1-7 Ivy League) grabbed an early 5-0 lead and held Cornell scoreless for the first 4:24. But the Big Red responded with a 6-0 run. Yale momentarily re-took the lead 8-6 on a three-pointer by senior guard/forward
Mackenzie Egger, but Cornell scored the final six points of the quarter to lead 12-8 at the end of the first.
Cornell (6-15, 2-6 Ivy League) outscored Yale 15-10 in the second to extend the lead, then broke the game open by outscoring Yale 21-11 in the third quarter. The Bulldogs won the fourth quarter 11-9, but that was not enough to avoid the loss.

- This was the second-lowest point total of the season for a Yale opponent. The Bulldogs limited Merrimack to 50 points on Nov. 19.
