Bulldogs Drop Heartbreaker to St. Lawrence in ECAC Quarterfinals

CANTON, N.Y. – The Yale women's ice hockey team dropped a heartbreaker to St. Lawrence in the second game of the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon. The Saints topped the Bulldogs 4-3 in a wild, back-and-forth contest to knock Yale out of the postseason tournament.

With the victory, St. Lawrence improved to 21-10-5 overall. The Saints will advance to the ECAC Hockey Semifinals for the second consecutive season. Yale concludes the 2024-25 campaign with an overall record of 16-13-3.

  • P1, 8:07 | The Saints scored first on an improbable goal. From behind Yale's net Abby Hustler flicked the puck as an intended centering pass. The attempt hit the back shoulder of goaltender Pia Dukaric and landed in the net. 1-0 SLU
  • P2, 7:22 | First year Avery Peters netted the equalizer for the Bulldogs after skating into the attacking zone and delivering a perfect wrister to beat the St. Lawrence goaltender. 1-1
  • P2, 9:20 | Just under two minutes later, the Bulldogs struck again. On a two-on-one rush Anna Bargman dished a centering pass to Carina DiAntonio who executed a beautiful backhand finish. 2-1 YALE
  • P2, 14:23 | The Saints tied the game on a goal by Kennedy Wilson. 2-2
  • P2, 17:01 | The back-and-forth period continued with a St. Lawrence goal scored by Abby Hustler. 3-2 SLU

  • P3, 6:35 | Yale cut into the Saints' lead on a power-play goal by Olivia Muhn on a well-placed wrist shot. 4-3 SLU
  • FINAL | With just over two minutes remaining in regulation, the Bulldogs pulled their goaltender to utilize the extra attacker. Despite a tremendous effort, the visitors could not secure the equalizer. 
Game Notes
  • St. Lawrence defeated Yale for the fourth time this season. All four contests were decided by one goal.
  • The Bulldogs finished their fifth consecutive season with 16 or more wins after only achieving the feat previously once in program history.
  • Peters scored her first collegiate goal in the second period.
  • DiAntonio tallied her 13th goal of the season. She is tied with Rebecca Vanstone for 18th on the Bulldogs' all-time goals list with 37.
  • Muhn scored her second goal of the year and finished the two-game series with two points.
  • Yale graduates one of the most successful senior classes in program history. The group helped the team record its highest four-year win total in Bulldogs history, reach the ECAC Championship game, make its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, and advance to the 2022 Frozen Four. They helped lead the program to its first ever Ivy League Championship and its first ever ECAC Regular Season Championship.
  • Anna Bargman concluded her Yale career with over 100 career points and ranked fourth all-time in program history in goals (54).
  • Goaltender Pia Dukaric recorded 28 saves. She wraps up her illustrious tenure at Yale as the Bulldogs' all-time leader in wins and shutouts.  
Moving Forward
Yale will graduate its 11-member senior class and will return more than a dozen players with game experience next season.
