Bulldogs Win Fifth Straight With Victory Over Sacred Heart

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale baseball team continued its strong play, defeating Sacred Heart 9-5 at home on Wednesday afternoon. The Bulldogs extended their win streak to five games.

With the victory, Yale improved to 8-3 overall with a 2-0 record at home. Sacred Heart fell to 7-7 overall.

Key Performers
  • First year Alex Hwang relieved starting pitcher Ben Winslow with one out in the first. Hwang was fantastic, throwing 3.2 innings of scoreless ball. He did not allow a baserunner and earned his first collegiate victory.
  • Fellow first year Jack Dauer drove in two runs and stole two bases.

  • Bottom 1st | Kaiden Dossa led off the inning with a triple down the right field line, and later scored on an error by Sacred Heart. Garrett Larsen scored the Bulldogs' second run on an RBI groundout by Alec Atkinson. 2-0 YALE

  • Yale evened the all-time series against Sacred Heart. The two teams are 14-14 against each other.
  • Yale extended its win streak to five games. Wednesday's contest began an eight-game homestand for the Bulldogs.
  • The Bulldogs were very aggressive on the bases, swiping nine bags in nine attempts.
  • Yale used seven pitchers. Winslow started the game, and was relieved by Hwang, DJ Peterson, Teo Spadaccini, Mark Capell, Tate Evans, and Mick Kelley. Hwang earned the win.
