NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale baseball team defeated Siena 6-3 on Tuesday afternoon in its home opener. The Bulldogs scored all six runs in the first two innings to prevail against the Saints.
With the win, Yale improved to 4-3 overall, while Siena dropped to 1-9 overall.
Top Performers
- Sophomore Ben Winslow made his second collegiate start on the mound for the Bulldogs and earned his first victory. Winslow tossed 3.0 innings while only allowing one hit and no runs. He also struck out four.
- Kaiden Dossa recorded two hits, including a triple. He reached base three times.
Scoring Summary
- Bottom 1st | Kaiden Dossa led off the game with a sharp single to center. The ball got by the Siena centerfielder and rolled all the way to the wall. Dossa motored around the bases for the Bulldogs' first run. Yale added three more runs on a single by Tommy Martin and a double by Chace Chaplin.
- Bottom 2nd | The Bulldogs scored two more runs following Jeff Pierantoni's safety squeeze and an RBI groundout by Jake Williams.
- Top 7th | Siena finally got on the scoreboard with three runs in the seventh.
