OTTAWA, Ont. – Yale women's ice hockey standout Anna Bargman was selected in the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) Draft on Tuesday evening. Bargman was picked by the New York Sirens with the first pick of the fifth round at the draft, held at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Ottawa, Ontario.
The third annual PWHL Draft introduced the next wave of talent, as the league's eight teams selected 48 players over six rounds.
Bargman becomes the third-ever PWHL selection from Yale, joining former teammates Claire Dalton '23 and Elle Hartje '24. Dalton was selected by Montreal in the 12th round in 2023, while Hartje was chosen by New York in the fifth round in 2024.
Bargman will reunite with Hartje, who debuted for the Sirens last season. Bargman served as Yale's captain in 2024–25 and concluded her Bulldogs career as one of the most decorated players in program history. She finished fourth all-time on Yale's goal list (53) and became one of only six players in program history to reach the 100-point plateau. She was also a three-time All-Ivy selection.
"Bargman was a fantastic captain and leader for us who plays a strong 200-foot game as a power forward. Anna was the glue to our team this year; she was a very consistent goal scorer, top-six forward, and special teams player for the Bulldogs over her career," said Susan Cavanaugh Head Coach of Women's Hockey, Mark Bolding. "She was one of the most consistent and gritty offensive producers of all time at Yale."
The Sirens finished last in the PWHL standings in 2024–25 but added nine draft selections to an already talented young core.
The PWHL will kick off its third season in Fall 2025.
